Cable Modem Troubleshooting

My cable modem internet connection is not working! What do I do?

  • Step 1
    Reboot your Cable modem.

Turn the Cable modem off for at least 30 seconds and then back on. Wait for the Cable light to become solid. Once the Cable light is solid, this means that your Cable modem has synchronized with the Cable signal on our system.

  • Step 2

You should then see Cable light Solid and Data receive/send are starting to flash. Now try to go online. If you are still unable to connect please proceed to next step. *If you did not obtain your Cable modem from Volcano Internet, please consult your Cable modem user guide for more information.

  • Step 3

Reboot additional devices If you have rebooted your Cable modem and are still not able to get online you will need to reboot your other devices. If you have a router you will need to turn the power off for 30 seconds and then turn the power back on. It is then recommended to reboot any other peripheral equipment such as VOIP phones, computers, cell phones, etc. The order of powering the devices back on seems to make a difference. So make sure the order is modem, router (if you have one), and then other devices.

  • Step 4

These steps will normally get your Cable connection back online. If you are still not able to get on the Internet, please contact our Volcano Internet Department at 209-296-7574.
